New Accounts Overview
Your hosting account’s control panel is called cPanel. It basically handles all of the housekeeping issues for your hosting account. You can use cPanel to add and manage email accounts, manage files on the server, view your website’s statistics, and much more! You will have just one username and password that is only used to access your cPanel.
Your website admin panel, if you are using WordPress or have a CMS site, is separate from cPanel and is called the Dashboard. You will have an administrator username and password for the Dashboard, and additional users can be created.
If you have email accounts set up in cPanel they will also have their own username (ie. your email address) and password.
You can set up email accounts or email forwarders in your hosting account cPanel, or you can ask us to set them up for you. An email account stores your email on the hosting server and is accessed with the username and password for that email address. An email forwarder, on the other hand, can be set up to automatically forward your email to another existing email account. An email forwarder does not save email on the hosting server.
If you want an email account you can use Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Apple Mail , your smartphone’s email app or most any other email client to access your email. Add the account using your email address, mail server and password. That info is available on cPanel or we can send it to you. Both POP3 (downloading all email to your email client) and IMAP (keeping your email on your hosting account server) are available.
Keep in mind that if you keep email on your hosting server it counts towards your allotted disk space, so if you anticipate a lot of email and/or sending and receiving a lot of files (ie. images, pdfs, documents, etc.) by email your hosting space can fill up quickly. In that case you might want to use a POP3 account to download your email to an online service (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) that you can access from anywhere or to a desktop mail client like Outloook. You can access email directly on your hosting account server by using Horde, Squirrel Mail or Round Cube. You can use webmail to send and receive your email, but, they are not as easy to use as Gmail or other popular mail clients. To access these webmail clients, type the following into your browser’s url field. Substitute your actual domain name for yourdomainname.com in the examples.
Once you go to the address above, you will be prompted for your user name and password. The password is case-sensitive.
Use your full e-mail address (example: email@example.com) and the password for your email account. When you are logged in you can select the webmail application you want to use. We encourage you to try out all of them at first. It is likely you will prefer one over the others and you can switch back and forth.
SquirrelMail has all the basic functionality you would want from an email client – calendar, spell check, strong MIME support, address books, and folder manipulation. It has a simple interface where it basically list all your emails. Recommended to those looking for basic read and reply email functions.
Roundcube offers a nicer, more user-friendly and fairly intuitive interface for your emails as compared to squirellmail. It offers features such as markings, calendars ,folders, full featured address book with groups and LDAP connectors, find-as-you-type address book integration as well as MIME support. It also offers 3 pane mailbox view, with drag-and-drop features.
Horde is considered the most fully featured email of the three. It comes with features such as calendar, task list, notebook, address book, and more. The e-mail management system includes support for advanced filters, attachments, spell checking, and displays HTML e-mail well.
Once you have purchased your domain name it must be configured to point to your website. This is done by changing the Domain Name Servers at your Registrar.

If you prefer to register your domain name yourself, that’s fine. Although we use a different Registrar, if you are going to be managing your domain name yourself, we recommend GoDaddy for it’s ease of use, 24/7 customer service and competitive pricing.
